Authenticity Reading

Otherwise known as sensitivity reading, this service is not about censorship. It’s about recognizing that identities are multi-faceted and intersectional, and when we don’t write what we know, we must ensure that our work reads fairly, authentically, and respectfully.

I have relevant lived and educational experience in the areas noted below. Want to learn more? Get in touch!

• Emigrating as a child (between Western countries with no language barriers)

• Adolescence and adulthood in a white, fat, female body

• Mental health throughout the lifespan: depression, anxiety, postpartum depression, binge eating disorder

• Pregnancy and fertility: sperm donor selection, fertility drugs, intrauterine insemination

• Birth and parenting: from the perspective of a birthing person and that of a same-sex partner to a birthing person. (Fun fact: I’m not only a mum, but a trained birth doula and childbirth educator, too!)

• Realizing queerness/bisexuality and coming out in early adulthood
